Dude messed up bad, it seems - real bad. This wasn't a mistake - this wasn't bad judgement - this shit was a crime and he should be punished to the fullest extent of the law if proven guilty in a court of law.
That said - I stand by my words and those of an increasing number of folks - including U.S. Senator Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania - the NFL and NCAA have monopolistic practices. It is my contention that these practices helped push Clarett into thug life, after leaving him no other options to earn a living.
Clarett was the property of the University of Ohio State University - helping them win a national championship, and when he stepped out of line - the NCAA and NFL punished him severely, setting an example for any future black players who might choose to get uppity. Step out of line black kid, and you will be dealt with severely - no exceptions.
Whether or not Maurice Clarett goes to jail, I know some folks who should be in there - the owners of most, if not all, NFL franchises as well as the league president - at least - Paul Taglibue.
