ROME (Reuters) - A U.S. soldier who raped a Nigerian woman in Italy was given a lighter sentence because the court deemed his tour of duty in Iraq had made him less sensitive to the suffering of others.
According to an Italian court document obtained by Reuters on Tuesday, James Michael Brown, a 27-year-old paratrooper from Oregon stationed in northern Italy, was sentenced to five years and eight months for rape in February 2004.
Brown beat and handcuffed the woman, a Nigerian resident in the town of Vicenza. He raped her vaginally and anally and left her to wander the streets naked in search of help.

Nothing in this Reuters article to give us the point of view of the women who was handcuffed, raped vaginally and anally, and then dumped into the streets to wander looking for help. Wonder why that is?

UPDATE: Since we're deep into sicko territory already, how about 3 kids going to town on an unconscious girl with a pool stick, cigarettes, etc. - oh, and they got it all on tape - all 21 minutes of it. But that's not the best part - the best part is that at least one of the kids had a cop daddy or mommy, so you knew they'd skate - and on the first try they did. This second time, it looks like they're going to get some prison time - we hope - but they only got convicted of 'penetration' - not 'rape'. Can somebody please explain that to me? Or, perhaps the best part of it is the doctor who testified for the defense of the sadist rapers - he said the passed-out girl was 'faking it' to make it more realistic - she was training for her porn career. No shit. Every one of those gangsters needs to go to jail - from the kids to their parents who smeared this girl so bad she turned into a druggie, to the corrupt doctor who took the stand and claimed the girl was 'faking it' - every single person who participated in destroying that girl's life needs to do hard time - 30 years, no parole.
